Know your Candle Care
Burning your candles right will help you get the most out of their scent, the look, and the feel of the candle. But it’s important to remember that a burning candle is an open flame, and proper candle care should always be in place when you are burning your favorite candle.
Below are few points to consider while burning your soy candles:
1. Trim your wick
The first step to proper candle care is trimming your wick. Your wick needs to be 1/4 inch or 5 mm in length for a clean, flame and a healthy environment – no matter what kind of wick it has! You want to keep the wick length at about ¼ inch before lighting.
Trimming ensures that the candle will burn evenly, but also you will get a nice clean and even burn throughout the use of your candle. You can use things like a wick trimmer, small scissors, or slanted nail clippers. Untrimmed wicks can cause uneven burning, fire hazards, or dripping.Â
You can use a wick trimmer to help you trim the wick, especially when it gets too low for scissors. Pinching the wick with your fingers is also an effective way of trimming your wick if you don’t have a wick trimmer.

2. The First Burn is Important
You want to ensure that the first layer has completely liquified on your first burn. Otherwise, you get wax that stays up the edges of the candles for every burn afterwards.
We recommend burning your candle for 3 hours initially to ensure that you don’t get tunnelling on the second burn.
Â
3. Watch your burn time
We know how much you love to leave your candles burning all day, but that’s one of the worst things you can do. When you burn your candle, the glass around it heats up, and the longer you burn your candle, the hotter the glass gets. If it gets too hot, the glass can crack. Please do not burn your candles for more than 5-hours at a time.
Also, burning your candles for just few minutes or just an hour will lead to tunneling or uneven wax distribution which can negatively affect the quality and life time of your candle. To minimize any damage or issues, we recommend only burning your candle for 3-4 hours at a time.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep.
Â
4. Place your Candle right
When it comes to candle care, you don’t want to put your candle anywhere – you want to put it in a spot that reduces any chances of fire. When lighting a candle and placing it, make sure to check the area first. Follow the 2 foot rule - don't place a burning candle near clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable. Remove anything that could cause fire, and avoid putting it in areas that have drafts or vents. This will only prevent fires from happening and prevent your candle from burning unevenly.
Â
 5. Stop Burning when 1/2" Wax Remains
This one is super important, and it's something we have had to remind customers when they bring their candles in for refills. THERE SHOULD BE WAX LEFT AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR CONTAINER! This is because at the end of it's life, a candle can get super hot- the container acts like an oven containing heat... and if that heat gets too close to the bottom of the container it can be dangerous, so blow out that flame when there is about 1/2" of wax left.
However, you can always buy another one of our luxury candles to enjoy the fragrance.

Ensuring your scented candles stay looking and smelling great, requires a little bit of care, but you will be rewarded with beautiful candles that burn evenly and without smoke.
